DO I HAVE TO BOOK IN ADVANCEYes, we ask for at least 24 hours notice for our running tours. We have to check availability of one of our tour guides and we need some time to arrange all necessary tour details.
If less notice is given, we will do our very best to arrange a tour for you. Simply contact us as soon as possible.
On our Private Running Tours and if your hotel/apartment is close to the city centre or near by the tour route in Barcelona, then we will meet you in front of your hotel/apartment main entrance. Unless otherwise agreed, the tour will then start and stop at your accommodation address. Very important, provide us with your hotel/apartment address when you make your tour reservation or when you contact us regarding a tour enquiry. Thanks!
If we can't meet you at your hotel/apartment in Barcelona, then we will make you a proposal somewhere close to your address and the tour route or we will meet you at our standard meeting point in the centre of Barcelona.
Standard meeting point: Plaça Catalunya, in the centre of the square, metro lines L1 (Red), L3 (Green) and FGC trains L6, L7, S1, S2, S5, S55 (Google Maps link)and for the Montjuic Hill tour at:
Standard meeting point: Plaça Espanya, in front of the right Venetian Tower, metro lines L1 (Red), L3 (Green) and FGC trains L8, S8, S33, R6, R5 (Google Maps link)
WHERE DO I MEET THE GUIDESo normally we meet you at your hotel or apartment address in Barcelona. The guide will then wait always at the agreed start time in front of the hotel or apartment building main entrance.
Very important, we will not enter the hotel lobby or apartment building. Please come to the main entrance.
When we will pick you up from an apartment in Barcelona, we will also not use the door bell of your apartment. The reason therefore is, that we don't know if the door bell is really working. So please just come down to the main entrance where the guide will for sure wait for you.
When we meet you at one of our standard meeting points, then please check the FAQ Meeting point for more information.
You can easily recognize our tour guides. We will wear a black Running Tours Barcelona T-Shirt, a backpack or something similar to storage some water or some smaller goods and a GoPro camera for photos. And before we forget, we look of course ready to go to show you on a Running Tour in Barcelona our amazing city from a runners perspective.
All our tours are held in English. German, Italian, French or Spanish on request.
It's time to enjoy Barcelona while doing what we love - running!
THE WEATHER - RAIN AND SNOWTours go ahead, rain or shine (or snow). However, in very severe weather (to be determined by your guide) you will be offered to return at a later time or to postpone for another day.
You should turn up at the meeting point as usual where your guide will advise if it is necessary to postpone the tour. Tours will usually go ahead, even if it is raining.
What should you bring to the start line?
Beside of a big smile, you should be prepared for the weather conditions during the different seasons. So normally light running equipment is absolutely sufficient for Barcelona's climate. Especially in spring, summer and also parts of fall we always recommend to use any kind sun protection. An extra bottle of water during summer season is recommendable. We will also pass on our running tour many fountains with drinking water.
Should children join us on a tour, then it should be in summer time obligatory to use caps and sun protection (sun lotion SPF 50+).
And don't forget, we can have also some rain sometimes in Barcelona! So please be prepared by checking the weather forecast and with a light rain jacket. But don't worry, that happens not very often.
EXIST ANY AGE RESTRICTIONSYes, you must be at least 18 years of age to book a Running Tour. Participants under 18 years have to be accompanied by their parents or a legal guardian of minor.
THE PACE ON OUR TOURSDon't worry! We adapt our pace to your pace. We are not on a race - this is a running tour.
Just in case you like to use your running tour as a part of your race preparation training, just tell us which pace you like to run.
If you should have still concerns about any pace related question, just let us know by sending us an email.
DO WE STOP ON THIS TOURSYes! We have short stops by the main attractions where the guide talks about the sights, the history and also share a few anecdotes. Just in case you prefer to run all time, just let us know before we start the tour.
WATER SUPPLYWe carry on our private running tours a bottle of water with us. You can also refill the bottle at some water fountains in Barcelona along the routes.
CAN I TAKE PHOTOS ALONG THE WAYOf course you can at any time of your tour! Just let us know when you like to stop to take a photo.
By the way, we also take photos with our GoPro action cameras during the tour. So don't forget to smile at anytime! After the the tour we will upload the photos to Dropbox (to the cloud) and send you a link by email. Just follow the link to have a look on the photos and of course to download them.
This service is of course without extra charge. Here is a link to see some examples of photos we have taken on our tours >> Tour Gallery
STROLLER ON TOURYou like to take your kid in a stroller with you on a running tour. No problem! Please let us know in advance about it and we can plan a stroller "friendly" tour route. Our general recommendation for a running tour with a stroller are the early morning hours, when the streets are less busy and better to run with a stroller.
Unfortunately we can't provide you with a stroller.
CAN A BIKE ACCOMPANY THE TOURA friend or family member like to join the tour but is not a runner? This is in general no problem when someone on a bike accompany us.
Of course the bike has to adapt to the runner. We will try to be as bike "friendly" as possible with the tour route.
When you book the tour, the person counts as a normal participant.
Unfortunately we can't provide you with a bike. This is because of insurance reasons. We recommend to rent the bike already the night before. The bike rentals very often open late between 9:00am and 10:00am in the morning.
